04 August 2023TİKA’s Books For Education Support to Herat
20 thousand textbooks were provided to improve literacy in Afghanistan by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).
To support people learning to read and write in the public education centres in Herat and surrounding provinces, TİKA engaged in assistance activities.
Within the scope of this activity, 10 thousand Dari Persian (Persian dialect in Afghanistan) and 10 thousand Mathematics, a total of 20 thousand books, were delivered to the people in charge.
TİKA’s Coordinator in Herat, Arafat Deniz, in his speech at the delivery ceremony held in Herat Ministry of Education, stated that: “Almost 70% of the Afghanistan people are not literate. We wanted to put this project into practice to support the resolution of this problem. Thus, we always focus on and prioritise education projects in Afghanistan. We foresee that the 20 thousand textbooks published by our Agency would fulfil the needs for a few years.
Herat Minister of Education, Abdullah Emini, thanked Türkiye and its institutions for the assistance activities of TİKA in Herat.
