19 November 2021TİKA’s Basic Firefighting Training Program Was Completed in Tajikistan
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided basic firefighting training to the staff of the Fire Department and the Department of Disaster and Emergency Rescue of the Municipality of Dushanbe in Tajikistan as part of the Emergency and Disaster Response Training Program (ADAMEP).
A total of 35 firefighters and search and rescue team members working for the Fire Department and the Department of Disaster and Emergency Rescue of the Municipality of Dushanbe attended the “Basic Firefighting Training Program,” organized by TİKA in cooperation with the Fire Department of Konya Municipality.
During the 6-day training program, the participants were given theoretical and applied training on fire response, search and rescue, response to traffic accidents, first aid, and occupational safety. After the theoretical training, an exercise was conducted under the supervision of expert instructors. The instructors who arrived in Tajikistan for the training paid a courtesy visit to the Fire Department of Shahrinav District and carried out a technical inspection at the relevant institutions.
A certificate presentation ceremony was held at the Fire Department of the Municipality of Dushanbe to present certificates to the staff members who completed the 6-day theoretical and applied training and the exercise successfully. The ceremony was attended by the Directors of the Fire Department and the Department of Disaster and Emergency Rescue of the Municipality of Dushanbe; İbrahim Erbir, TİKA’s Dushanbe Coordinator; and the officials of the enterprise Smart City, affiliated with the Municipality of Dushanbe.
In his speech, Serkan Demirel, Head of the Office of Occupational Health and Safety in the Fire Department of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, noted that the training held in Tajikistan, where vertical construction has begun in recent years, was very helpful and contributed to the development of local human resources. Demirel thanked TİKA for organizing the training program.
In his speech at the certificate presentation ceremony, Hasan Khorkashev, an official of Smart City, affiliated with the Municipality of Dushanbe, thanked TİKA and the Fire Department of Konya Metropolitan Municipality for the project implemented and stated that they wanted to cooperate with TİKA in different industries and implement new projects together.
İbrahim Erbir, TİKA’s Dushanbe Coordinator, delivered a speech at the ceremony and stated that TİKA strove to support all industries in Tajikistan and that an extremely necessary training was held for the staff of the Fire Department of Dushanbe, who work in a field that concerns human life. He said, “Dushanbe is a fast-growing city, and the number of tall buildings is increasing rapidly. Therefore, with this training, we aimed to develop the capacities of the relevant institutions and improve their ability to provide services according to changing conditions. As TİKA, we will continue to support institutions operating in this field.” He thanked the staff of the Fire Department of Dushanbe for their interest in the training.
Some other occupational groups will also be given theoretical and applied training as part of the Emergency and Disaster Response Training Program (ADAMEP), which aims to improve the human resources capacity of partner countries to respond to disasters and emergencies.
