The Poetry Contest for the Karabakh Victory and the Karabakh Martyrs Ended

The winners of the poetry contest for “The Karabakh Victory and The Karabakh Martyrs” received their awards, which took place in Azerbaijan with the support of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

TİKA organized the poetry contest for “The Karabakh Victory and The Karabakh Martyrs” for the grades 9-10-11 in cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan Ministry of Education, the Education Secretariat of the Embassy of Turkey in Baku, and the Azerbaijan Writers' Union, coordinated by the Baku Turkish Anatolian High School.

The winners of the poetry contest, which was organized in order to immortalize the martyrs of the Second War of Karabakh that took place in 2020 and ended the occupation of Karabakh, received their awards at the ceremony held in the Embassy of Turkey in Baku.

The award ceremony was attended by Bekir Şahin, General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal of the Republic of Turkey; Kamran Aliyev, General Prosecutor of Azerbaijan; Cahit Bağcı, Ambassador of Turkey in Baku; Mukhtar Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Education of Azerbaijan; as well as the students, parents and distinguished guests.

In his speech at the ceremony, TİKA’s Coordinator Teoman Tiryaki stated that it was crucial to remind the future generations of the memory of our sacred martyrs in the Patriotic War. Having expressed that they were going to organize a summer camp for the children of the martyrs and the veterans in the upcoming period, Tiryaki underlined that they were going to carry out projects in order to recover and revitalize Karabakh.

Having reminded the words of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, "happiness of Azerbaijan is our happiness, her sorrow is our own", as well as the words of Haydar Aliyev, "one nation, two states"; Bekir Şahin, General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal of, recorded that the people of Turkey shared the feelings of the people of Azerbaijan regarding the Karabakh War.

Kamran Aliyev, General Prosecutor of Azerbaijan, expressed that the brotherhood between Turkey and Azerbaijan was demonstrated once again in the Karabakh War.

The highest-ranking 50 poems, which were selected among more than 700 poems penned by grade 9-10-11 students from all around Azerbaijan, will be published as a book.

Having expressed his gratitude towards the organizations that contributed to this contest, Ambassador Bağcı congratulated the winners of the contest.

Then, the highest-ranking students were presented their awards.

The ceremony ended with a folk dancing show by the students and teachers of the Baku Turkish Anatolian High School.
