The Mosque, Decorated with Traditional Turkish Tile Art, Opened for Prayers in Brunei Darussalam

Pusat Ehsan Foundation Mosque, decorated with traditional Turkish tile art motives, was opened for prayers in the capital city of Brunei Darussalam, Bandar Seri Begawan, with support from Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

It had been decided that the interior of the mosque to be built would be covered with traditional Turkish tile art motives and decorations as a result of the negotiation between the Queen of Brunei, Hajjah Mariam, and the Turkish Ambassador to Bandar Seri Begawan, Prof. Hamit Ersoy.

In accordance with this decision, the tiles and hand-drawn decorations of the mosque, built within the campus where the Pusat Ehsan Foundation that offers education and treatment services to the disabled is located in Brunei Darussalam, were completed through the skills of the craftspersons from Türkiye.

While the dome and walls of the mosque were engraved with hand-drawn decorations, the mihrab and the entire facade where the mihrab is located were adorned with tiles.

The mosque, the construction and decorations of which had been completed, was opened for prayers with the participation of the Queen of Brunei, Hajjah Mariam.

Minister of Religious Affairs of Brunei, Badaruddin Bin Othman, Turkish Ambassador to Bandar Seri Begawan, Prof. Hamit Ersoy, representative of various institutions in Brunei, representatives of some foreign countries, and TİKA’s personnel attended the opening in addition to Mariam.

Following the opening ceremony, Queen Mariam, Minister of Religious Affairs Othman, and Ambassador Ersoy put 6 tile stones in places that were left blank with prayers.

Examining the tiles of the mosque, Queen Mariam thanked TİKA and Türkiye for this collaboration.
