The Memorial Forest for the Martyrs of July 15 Was Created in Lebanon

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) planted 251 olive trees in Kouachra, Lebanon, in memory of our 251 citizens who sacrificed their lives and were martyred during the treacherous coup attempt of July 15.

The commemoration and opening event was attended by Ali Barış Ulusoy, the Republic of Turkey’s Ambassador to Beirut; Mohammad Abed El Karim, Mayor of Kouachra; Embassy staff; and citizens.

After a moment of silence for the martyrs of July 15 and national anthems, Ambassador Ali Barış Ulusoy and Mayor Mohammad Abed El Karim delivered speeches about July 15, Democracy and National Unity Day.

The poem “Tell Me Child,” read by Lena İsmail, a Turkmen from Kouachra, was followed by the recitation of the Quran and prayers.

After the commemoration ceremony, 251 olive trees, named after our martyrs of July 15, were planted on a land of 5,000 sq. meters allocated by the Municipality of Kouachra.
TİKA also installed a 20-tonne water tank and a drip irrigation system for the irrigation of the trees planted in the memorial forest.
