21 December 2022The “International Traditional Music Festival” Activity Was Held in Turkmenistan
In cooperation with Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, and the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), the International Traditional Music Festival was held in Ashgabat.
Art communities, artists, and scientists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Tatarstan (RF), Tajikistan, and Türkiye attended the International Traditional Music Festival held in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, from 28 to 30 November 2022 in cooperation with TİKA, TURKSOY, and the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.
7 artists from the Turkic World Music and Folk Dances Community in Ankara participated in the National Songs and Musical Art in The Cultural Heritage of Global Communities Festival organized as a part of the festival.
The opening of the festival was held on 28 November 2022 at Turkmenistan State Civilization Center’s Residence Manor with participation from the Secretary-General of TURKSOY, Sultan Raev, Minister of Culture of Tajikistan, Zulfiya Davlatzoda, Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan, Atageldi Şamuradov, and Vice-President of the Council of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Mährijemal Mämmedova.
Speaking at the activity, Secretary-General of TURKSOY, Raev said, “There is no doubt that music is one of the most important means in the transfer of our culture. Our traditional music and instruments are some of the rarest pieces of our culture. I find it very meaningful that Turkmenistan united us in an international activity with such broad participation in Ashgabat. I would like to express my gratitude towards your excellencies President of Turkmenistan, Mr. Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and our precious friend your excellencies Mr. Gurbangulı Berdimuhamedov for giving us, our artists, and moreover the whole Turkic World this opportunity and for their magnificent hospitality.”
As a part of the opening, the “Akmeshit” Folklore Community from Kazakhstan, the “Ethno Osh” Folklore Community from Kyrgyzstan, the “Khorezm State Theater of Drama and Music” from Uzbekistan, artists from Azerbaijan Cultural Centre in Tashkent, the “Turkic World Music Community” from Türkiye, well-known art communities and soloists of Turkmenistan appeared on the stage.
Following the opening concert that attracted a great deal of attention from the audience, “The International Scientific Conference for the Traditional Musical Heritage in the Turkic World” was held at the Conference Hall of Archabil Hotel with participation from scientists from different countries.
