Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) will tell the events of the night of July 15, with the book, “That Night at the Veteran Parliament” published in 9 languages.
TİKA translated the book authored by Dr. Necdet Ünüvar, the former member of parliament for Adana from Justice and Development Party, into 8 languages and published it. The book recounts the events at the Turkish Grand National Assembly on the night of July 15, during the coup attempt by the Fetullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), in detail.
In order to tell the world once again how dangerous FETÖ is, Ünüvar’s book was translated into English, French, Arabic, German, Bosnian, Russian, Spanish and Albanian and it will be distributed to the Parliament, to the countries, where TİKA has an office, to local administrations, to NGOs and to Turkey’s diplomatic missions abroad.
The Book, “That Night at the Veteran Parliament”
216-page “That Night at the Veteran Parliament” contains interviews with MPs, and discusses how, where and when they learned about the coup attempt, how they arrived at the parliament and what happened that night at the parliament. The book features a flowchart of the events starting from the evening of July 15 until the morning of July 16.
Ünüvar prepared a list of 12 questions related to July 15, as part of his research for the book and sent these questions to 106 MPs, who were present at the Grand National Assembly that night. Ünüvar personally interviewed interested MPs, some of them sent voice recordings while some submitted their replies in writing. People interviewed by Ünüvar include former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly İsmail Kahraman and former Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ.
The first chapter of the book covers how, where and when the MPs learned about the coup attempt and how they arrived at the parliament; the second chapter covers the period starting from their entry into the parliament’s courtyard until the bombing of the Grand Assembly hall; the third chapter covers the period until 08.00 o’clock in the morning after the bombing and the fourth chapter deals with the impressions by domestic and foreign committees related to the attack suffered by the Grand National Assembly. The book also compiles social media posts shared by MPs, who were there at the parliament that night. In addition, with the “QR codes” placed next to photographs and documents in the book, readers can reach related videos on their mobile phones.
The book also includes the impressions of Anadolu Agency Parliamentary Correspondent Coşkun Ergül, who spent the night of July 15 at the Parliament and witnessed the events.
