The 3rd Turkic World Orthopedics and Traumatology Congress Was Held in Sarajevo

The 3rd Turkic World Orthopedics and Traumatology Congress was held in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

The 3rd Turkic World Orthopedics and Traumatology Congress was held by Turkish Bone and Joint Surgery Association and TİKA in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, from June 8 to 12, 2022, with the participation of 200 orthopedic surgeons from Türkiye, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Balkans, and the Turkic Republics in Central Asia. The congress was attended by Prof. Rifat Škrijelj, Rector of the University of Sarajevo; Prof. Vedat Şahin, President of Turkish Bone and Joint Surgery Association; Prof. Ismet Gavrankapetanović; Prof. Reha Tandoğan; and many scientists.

70 scientific studies were presented

The two-day congress was chaired by Prof. Ismet Gavrankapetanović and Prof. Reha Tandoğan. 70 scientific studies were presented as free papers at the congress, where the topics of trauma, arthroplasty, arthroscopy, sports injuries, spine, and pediatric orthopedics were discussed. Prof. Rifat Škrijelj, Rector of the University of Sarajevo, delivered a speech after the presentations and stated that he was happy to see the scientists of the Turkic world in Sarajevo.

“We are introducing the orthopedics industry to our colleagues”

In his speech, Prof. Vedat Şahin, President of Turkish Bone and Joint Surgery Association, said, “We held the first edition of the Turkic World Orthopedics and Traumatology Congress in Azerbaijan in 2018 and the second edition in Kazakhstan in 2019. We are very happy to hold the third edition in the Lands of the Sons of the Conquerors after a delay of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through these meetings, we enable the exchange of knowledge between scientists from the Turkic World and introduce the orthopedics industry in Türkiye to our colleagues in this region.”

The fourth edition of the Turkic World Orthopedics and Traumatology Congress will be held in Kyrgyzstan in 2023.
