11 October 2017The Renovation of Damat Ali Pascha Tomb
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić visited Damat Ali Pascha Tomb which is being renovated by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
The Tomb has been built by Defterdar Kapıcıbaşı Mustafa Paşa in 1741 after the death of Silahdar Damat Ali Paşa in Petrovaradin.
The dome of the Tomb which was damaged by moisture was repaired. Drainage was made around the Tomb and has been brought into original floor level. The doors and windows of the exteriors were cleaned and replaced with new ones as well as the sarcophagus.
The Tomb is located in Kalemegdan which is one of Serbia's top tourist destinations and the center of the Belgrad.
The Renovation of Sokullu Mehmed Pasha Fountain
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić visited the Sokullu Mehmed Pasha Fountain which is being renovated by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
It is the one and only architectural work in Belgrad which has reached today from 1578. It is located in Kalemegdan, the center of Belgrade. It has a rectangular shape and reaches 4,5m height. Before renovationthe Fountain had been burried under soil and dust. The renovation has started through the cooperation of TIKA and the Serbian Council of Monuments. The Sokullu Mehmed Pasha Fountain has a beautiful view of Sava River.
TIKA in Serbia
The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) was established in 1992 and is responsible for implementing Turkey’s developmental cooperation policies overseas. TİKA operates in more than 170 countries around the world. TIKA Belgrade Program Coordination Office was established in 2009 in Serbia. So far, Belgrad PCO has initiated 223 Projects throughout Serbia and contributed to Serbia’s development. 35% of these projects were carried out in the field of education while 16% were in the field of health. The overall goal of these social, economic and cultural cooperation activities is to ensure peace and co-development among the societies.
