Sana University Department Of Turkish Language And Translation's Classrooms Were Renovated

Renovated and refurbished by the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) the new classrooms of Sana University Department of Turkish Language and Translation were opened within the scope of “Yemen Education Fairs Week” held between 2 and 7 March 2013.

Classrooms, library, and faculty members’ rooms of the Department of Turkish Language and Translation of Sana University were constructed and hardwired by TIKA.

The opening ceremony, which was held within the scope of Education Fairs Week at Yemen, was attended by Turkey’s Sana Ambassador Fazlı Çorman, Chairman of the Yunus Emre Institute Prof. Dr. Hayati Develi, President of Turks in Abroad and Related Communities Kemal Yurtnaç, Dean of the Faculty of Languages Aziz Sabit, TICA Yemen PKO officials, university representatives, students and a large number of guests. After the opening speeches and ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests visited the department and further watched the “Silver Feet Dance Group” of Namık Kemal University in Tekirdağ who were sent to Yemen by TIKA.

Dean of the Faculty of Languages Aziz Sabit made some statements after the opening. Sabit thanked the TIKA presidency who furnished the department and the Yunus Emre Institute for providing faculty staff. Sabit further commented that the department became the most popular language and that the students who are learning Turkish will play a key role in the two countries’ relations. Students of the Department of Turkish Language and Translations which are preparing to produce graduates in the second semester, find Turkish “easy” and a language similar to Arabic. The students who prepare to graduate were observed as excited during the opening ceremony while Turkish is considered an easy language due to its common words with Arabic.

A new era began in relations between Turkey and Yemen

TIKA has been operating in the capital Sana since June of 2012.TIKA Program Coordination Office in Sana which executes projects that substantiate the relations in the region was opened by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs on 22 October 2012. In this context, a new era has begun in Turkey’s relations with Yemen.

Projects Executed in Yemen

The high school opened in Yemen in order to allow vocational training on tourism and hotel business received hardware assistance from TIKA. Also studies are in the progress for establishing dialysis centers in the country. With the aim to strengthen the health infrastructure in the country, ambulances were donated by TIKA to Yemen Ministry of Health.
