International Turkish Language Forum was organized in Kyrgyzstan With TİKA’s Support

International Turkish Language Forum was organized in Kyrgyzstan with Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency’s (TİKA) support. Scientists from many Turkish-speaking countries attended the forum.

To extend cultural and linguistic cooperation between the Turkic people and protect Turkish languages, “International Turkish Language Forum” was organized by International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY) and Kyrgyzstan National Commission on State Language and Language Policy, with TİKA’s support. It was organized in Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan between the 20th and 22nd of September 2023.

The forum was attended by more than 250 scientists from Turkish-speaking countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Türkiye; as well as Germany, Hungary, and Russia.

The official opening ceremony was attended by State Secretary of Kyrgyzstan, Süyünbek Kasmambetov, Chairman of Kyrgyzstan National Commission on State Language and Language Policy, Kanıbek Osmonaliev, Member of the White Beards Council of the Turkish State Organization, Medetkan Şerimkulov, Secretary General of TÜRKSOY, Sultan Raev, Member of Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Prof. Dr. Ruhi Ersoy, and executives and representatives of national and international institutions and organizations such as Organization of Turkic States, Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, International Turkic Academy, National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, TİKA, Turkish Maarif Foundation, Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History, and Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

During the opening speeches, the State Secretary of Kyrgyzstan, Kasmambetov read the President of Kyrgyzstan’s letter which emphasizes the importance of Turkic nations and their contribution to the world civilization.

During the forum, subjects such as the language problems in Turkish-speaking countries, works on the common alphabet, language policies in the Turkic world, and the role of modern technology in language learning were discussed.

At the end of the forum, a series of decisions were made; including deepening the language history of Turkish-speaking people in the light of contemporary scientific base, providing state aid to scientific research, increasing the cooperation between the institutions of science and knowledge, and regulating scientific activities by strengthening international cooperation.
