Hardware Support from TİKA to the First Turkish Language Course in Bosnia Herzegovina’s Serbian Entity

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided hardware support to the Turkish Language Course to be opened within the Non-European Language Courses Program in Faculty of Philology at Banja Luka University.

Banja Luka University was opened on November 7, 1975 in Banja Luka, the capital of Bosnia Herzegovina’s Serbian Entity. Banja Luka University is the second biggest university of the country. There are 17 faculties within the university. Of them, the Faculty of Philology offers Serbian, German, English, Italian and Russian classes as well as classes that examine the links between these languages. The Faculty of Philology offers Czech, Slovenian and Chinese classes, too. Not only students but also citizens can attend the classes.

As a result of the efforts to open a Turkish language class at the university, a Turkish language class was opened in the Faculty of Philosophy.

The first classes are going to be given between April 15 and July 15, 2022. The technical equipment needed in the class was delivered by TİKA. Oğuz Kılıç, the Consul General in Banja Luka, Biljana Babic, the Dean of the Faculty of Philology and the Vice Rector in charge of Education, TİKA Sarajevo Program Coordinator, Muhammed Ünal, and the students attending the classes participated in the opening ceremony.
