“Hands-on Training” Support by TİKA to Health Department Students from Bosnia and Herzegovina

“Health Department Hands-on Training Workshop” set up, with the support of TİKA, at Zijah Dizdareviç Mixed High School in Fojnica, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Being one of the biggest high schools in Central Bosnia Canton with more than 800 students, Zijah Dizdareviç Mixed High School was established in 1978.

The high school includes a total of 6 departments like wood processing, health (nursing, physiotherapy, pharmacist technician), information technologies, vehicle repair, electric and common high school. The school's health department is the most appealing aspect for the students, thanks to its closeness to the big thermal facilities and other health institutions in the city.

However, not being able to meet the conditions for performing hands-on training was a great disadvantage for the students and there were disruptions on fulfilling the hands-on training after theoretical training.

Carried out by TİKA in Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the purpose of improving the hands-on training capacity, the “Fojnica Zijah Dizdareviç Mixed High School Health Department Practice Workshop Set Up Project” will contribute to the development of the country’s health sector and to the training of qualified intermediate staff that sector needs.

TİKA’s Coordinator in Sarajevo, Erdinç Işık; Fojnica Mayor, Sabahudin Klisura and Zijah Dizdareviç Mixed High School Principal, Samir Kucuk attended the project opening ceremony along with teachers and students.

Fojnica Mayor Klisura, in his speech, mentioned that even though Fojnica is a small municipality, it is in strong cooperation with, especially, TİKA and other institutions of the Republic of Türkiye and his appreciation towards this.

Klisura, while reminding the audience that he is an old student of this school’s health department, noted that this training workshop will be efficient for teachers and students to fulfill the need for practice.
