First Lady Emine Erdoğan Visited TİKA Projects in Moldova

Accompanying President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s trip to Moldova, First Lady Emine Erdoğan visited TİKA projects in the capital city Chisinau and in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia.

The First Lady was accompanied by Moldovan President Mr. Igor Dodon’s wife First Lady Mrs. Galina Dodon and she visited Chisinau Mother-Child Health and Rehabilitation Center, which was renovated and given equipment and medical device support by TİKA. The First Lady examined hydrotherapy, kinesiotherapy, electrotherapy, phototherapy and thermotherapy rooms at the center, received information from the officials and visited the patients who were being treated.

In the second day of her visits, the First Lady visited the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Retirement Home, which was renovated and equipped by TİKA, in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia’s capital Comrat. Discussing with the residents at the retirement home together with the Moldovan President Igor Dodon’s wife Mrs. Galina Dodo, First Lady Erdoğan also visited the greenhouse that was built at the retirement home by TİKA.

– Chisinau Mother-Child Health and Rehabilitation Center

Serving in the capital Chisinau since 1985, the Mother-Child Health and Rehabilitation Center is one of the oldest health institutions in Moldova in its field. The Center, which was not properly repaired since it has opened its doors, was renovated and its equipment and medical devices were renewed in line with the latest international standards.

The Center provides both inpatient and outpatient services and offers physiotherapy, kinesiotherapy, and acupuncture treatments. Thanks to the project, in a year, on average 15,000-16,000 patients enjoyed better treatment conditions. The Center was opened by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly Binali Yıldırım, who was Prime Minister at the time and by Moldovan Prime Minister Mr. Pavel Filip.

Serving since 1972, especially to the parents of people who went abroad for work, the renovation activities were completed in 2015 at the Retirement Home to offer better care to its residents. The Retirement Home achieved a more modern look thanks to TİKA’s renovation work and its capacity was also increased.

Named after “Recep Tayyip Erdoğan” upon a decision of the Comrat Municipal Council, the Retirement Home was opened by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in 2015. In 2018, in order to offer the old residents at the Retirement Home a chance to deal with the nature and do some gardening, to enable them to contribute to production by growing plants and flowers, and to create opportunities for them to spend quality time and socialize, a horticultural therapy greenhouse was set up in the garden of the institution.
