TİKA Dar es Salaam Program Coordination Office distributed food packages and hygiene supplies to 1,000 families who live in the low-income villages of Tanga, Kivunge, Kilwa and Mafia as part of the Ramadan activities under the name “Erenler Sofrası”. The distribution ceremony, which was organized in Kilwa, was attended by Dr. Mehmet Güllüoğlu, Ambassador of Turkey in Dar es Salaam; Christopher Ngubiagai, Regional Governor of Kilwa; as well as representatives from TİKA’s Dar es Salaam Program Coordination Office and the local community.
Governor Christopher Ngubiagai expressed his gratitude towards TİKA and Turkey for reaching out a helping hand for the needy people in Tanzania. In his speech, Ambassador Güllüoğlu stated that as Turkey, they were happy to stand by Tanzania and the Tanzanians, that they saw this aid not as charity but as an obligation, and that they would be helping increase the welfare in Tanzania with sustainable development projects in addition to food aid.
Having attended the food distribution program in Tanga, Ummy Mwalimu, Minister of Local Administrations, made a statement to the national TV and expressed his gratitude towards TİKA and Turkey for their support.
