Equipment Support from TİKA to the University of Sarajevo

The inauguration of the equipment project for the Training Class of the Department of Conservation and Restoration in the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Sarajevo was held by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

Fine Arts Academy of the University of Sarajevo, which was founded in 1972 and has been continuing its training activities since 1981 in a facility that was built in 1899 and used as a church for some time, provides education with its departments of painting, sculpture, graphic, digital and industrial design, and conservation and restoration.

Due to the lack of restoration specialists in the country that gained its independence after the breakup of Yugoslavia, the department of conservation and restoration was opened in cooperation with the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Science at the University of Sarajevo in 2014 as the first and only department to offer training in this field in the country.

In order to improve the limited infrastructure of the department which had its first graduates in the past years and to increase the quality of the applied studies for students, the required technological and restoration equipment and furniture support was provided.

Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dubravka Pozderac-Lejlić, Head of the Department of Conservation and Restoration, Prof. Ćazim Hadžimejlić, TİKA’s Program Coordinator in Sarajevo, Erdinç Işık, and students of the Department of Conservation and Restoration attended the inauguration program.
