20 September 2022Equipment Support from TİKA to Canoe Manufacturing in Cameroon
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided the canoe manufacturers’ cooperative in Kribi, Cameroon with necessary equipment.
TİKA’s Yaoundé Coordinator, Burak Özden made a statement here and said that the cooperative whose members live off canoe manufacturing and fishing was given equipment and tools used in canoe manufacturing.
Canoe manufacturing speed has doubled
Özden explained that the project will help to decrease the canoe manufacturing period from 2 weeks to 1 week, increasing efficiency and productivity. He added that they are also expecting that the number of young people who acquire a profession will pass 120 with this project. The student volunteers who went to Cameroon under Experience Sharing Program 2022 participated in the manufacturing activities.
TİKA volunteers were given information about the canoe manufacturing process and participated in hands-on training. Canoes are widely used in fishing, tourism, and transportation in Cameroon.
