Educational Support from TİKA to Iraqi Students

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided stationery support to schools in the city of Tuz Khurmatu in Iraq.

In the city of Tuz Khurmatu located in Saladin Province,  TİKA distributed 2,000 school bags and stationery equipment to students, who started 1st grade in the academic period of 2018-2019, in 30 schools, which are attended by many Turkmen students and which offer Turkish courses.

The ceremony, which was held in Al-Sayyap Primary School in Tuz Khurmatu, was attended by TİKA Baghdad Program Coordinator Cüneyt Esmer, Iraqi Turkmen Front Saladin Provincial Chairman Heytem Haşim Muhtaroğlu, former Turkmen Deputy Niyazi Mimaroğlu, Saladin Provincial Directorate of Education Turkmen Department Manager Nihat Kuşçu, school principals, teachers, and students.

Speaking during the ceremony, Cüneyt Esmer said that TİKA serves in 59 countries and considers education as a priority, educational projects range from kindergartens to universities and today they are pleased to support the education of students in 30 primary schools in Tuz Khurmatu.

In his speech, Iraqi Turkmen Front Saladin Provincial Chairman Muhtaroğlu expressed that they are happy to see the Republic of Turkey active in Tuz Khurmatu through TİKA.

Muhtaroğlu remarked that the Turkmen population in Iraq suffer many problems, with education being the most significant issue. He expressed their desire to increase the number of schools, which serve fully in the Turkmen language, and he thanked the Republic of Turkey.
