An Eye Health Camp was Held in Nepal with TİKA’s Support

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) held a 1-week eye health screening and treatment camp for free in Nepal’s cities of Dhangadhi and Nepalgunj.

Approximately 3,000 people benefited from the eye health screening and treatment opportunities provided with the cooperation of TİKA and “Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh”, which is a non-profit organization that is active in the field of eye health in Nepal and already has 27 eye hospitals and 150 eye health centers within.

The patients from Nepal, who do not have the opportunity to have cataract surgery and who live within the limit of the extreme poverty line, regained their health thanks to the eye health treatment camps that were held. Approximately 500 people who have partial or complete vision loss got cataract surgery.

Also, the patients who have eye damage or disorders were transferred to the eye hospitals in the cities of Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi to be treated for free.

In Nepal, where the rate of catching various illnesses is observed to be higher compared to the other South Asian countries, they are trying to get diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, cholera, and typhoid under control.
