Ambulance Aid in Yangon Myanmar

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided ambulance aid for the Islamic Mahar Mon Myat Setanar Association in Yangon, the capital of Myanmar.

The Mahar Mon Myat Setanar Association, which provides free services for every patient in need with more than 50 volunteers in Yangon, the capital of Myanmar, was given ambulance aid by TİKA. Providing free ambulance services in Yangon and the surrounding regions since 2010, the association is trying to reach everyone without discrimination on any ground such as race, religion or language in this country with an undeveloped health industry.

Accredited with the emergency call center, the association reaches the people in need of emergency health services thanks to the mobile telephone network. The people who have trouble with hospital dispatch can call the association and benefit from the mobile ambulance services free of charge. Transferring over 100 patients on average per month, the association dispatched approximately 800 patients to healthcare centers over the course of last six months.

During the handover ceremony, which was attended by the association volunteers and the beneficiaries of the ambulance service, Ahmet Tin Myint, the founding member of the Mahar Mon Myat Setanar Association, said: “TİKA’s support means a lot to us. In the last couple of months, we began to receive many calls. However, we could not attend everyone with our current capacity. Now, thanks to the vehicle and equipment support, we are going to have access to more people in need. We would like to thank TİKA, our volunteers and guests who are here with us today.”
