20 tons of aid from TIKA for Ukraine

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) provided humanitarian aid consisting of 20 tons vital needs for refuges or people living close to conflict area in the Lugansk province of East Ukraine. 

Humanitarian aids including food products like canned meat, fish and vegetable, baby formula, cereal and hygienic products like soap and detergent were delivered to Ukrainian State Service on Emergency Situations with an official ceremony on 25th of May, 2015.

Turkish Ambassador in Kiev Yönet Can Tezel, Deputy of Ukrainian Parliament and Leader of Crimean Tatar National Movement Refat Chubarov, Head of Ukrainian State Service on Emergency Situations Mykola Chechotkin and TIKA Program Coordinator in Ukraine Hacı Bayram Bolat attended the ceremony held in Distinct Directorate of Kiev of Ukrainian State Service on Emergency Situations in Vishnevoya located in near Kiev.

After a short opening speech about TIKA Projects in Ukraine and Crimea by TIKA Program Coordinator in Ukraine Hacı Bayram Bolat, he stated TIKA makes various projects for soldiers and civil people suffered at war in East Ukraine. Expressing that Turkey and Ukraine are two important countries in Black Sea Basin, Bolat said: “I hope this aid will contribute to some extend to recover the situation of suffered people in Lugansk Province and wish to build peace, tranquility and sustainability for East Ukraine (Donbass).”

Turkish Ambassador in Kiev Yönet Can Tezel expressed that Turkey, as a friendly and strategic partner, supports and will support to contribute Ukraine to overtake hard times. In addition, he told that providing 10 million US-Dollar humanitarian aids were decided for displaced refugees in the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council. 

Expressing his deepest gratitude for the humanitarian aid which will be sent to Lugansk Province, Deputy of Ukrainian Parliament and Leader of Crimean Tatar Nationality Refat Chubarov said: “I think this humanitarian aid will give support and hope for people who have hard times but never lose their hope.”
Thanking to Turkey which does not remain insensitive to problems of Ukrainian people suffering from the war, Head of Ukrainian State Service on Emergency Situations Mykola Chechotkin told: “Currently food and hygienic materials have a vital importance for people living in East Ukraine.” 
Noting that the humanitarian aid will be loaded on a truck just after the ceremony and set off for the purpose of being delivered to people in Lugansk Province within a short time, Chechotkin shared his hope that they will be in cooperation with Turkey about social projects for people suffering from the war in East Ukraine.
