TİKA Supports Healthcare in Bangladesh

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided medical equipment to the Maternity Department of the Wahab Toyuba Hospital in Noakhali, People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

The delivery ceremony was held in the Wahab Toyuba Hospital, which serves approximately 100 patients a day. Member of parliament from Noakhali, H.M. Ibrahim; authorities of TİKA Dakka Program Coordination Office and hospital managers attended to the ceremony where an ultrasound machine, ECG device, biochemistry analysis machine, hospital beds and various emergency medical supplies were delivered.

The hospital, established in 2015 and 4 hours away from the capital city Dakka, provides health care to poor people living in the Noakhali region.

Emphasizing that TİKA’s support to the hospitals is essential for the Bangladesh people, in his speech, Member of Parliament, İbrahim stated that the hospital’s service capacity increased with the medical equipment, and there are lesser transfers of patients to the hospitals in the capital city Dakka.

Even though Bangladesh leapt forward significantly, the sector still suffers a setback. Having the title of the country with the highest population density in the world with its population of nearly 170 million, Bangladesh is the country with the highest infant mortality rate according to the United Nations data. Underbudget healthcare and lack of a number of qualified healthcare workers restrain Bangladesh people from considerably benefitting from healthcare services.
