17 June 2013Two New Projects For Supporting Sports And Agriculture In Bosnia Herzegovnia
With the contributions of Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency, Sarajevo Wheelchair Basketball Club 3K team which is active in Sarajevo was donated 5 special production sports wheelchairs. Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency has also provided equipment support for executing promotional and educational activities of Organic Products Fair held in Sarajevo.
5 special production sports wheelchairs was donated by TIKA to “Sarajevo Wheelchair Basketball Club 3K” for reintegration of persons with disabilities through sport, smooth and continuous operation of the club and the correction of existing conditions.
The wheelchairs were delivered to the authorities with a ceremony held at the clubhouse. The delivery ceremony of the wheelchairs was attended by Bosnia and Herzegovina Federation Minister of Culture and Sports Salmir Kaplan, TIKA Deputy Chairman Süreyya Er, Club President Samir Fazlic, TICA officials and club members.
During his speech at the ceremony Club President Fazlic offered his thanks by stating that TIKA has donated the greatest aid the club has received so far. Bosnia and Herzegovina Federation Minister of Culture and Sports Kaplan stated that they are pleased to see TIKA’s projects also in areas other than restoration of historical and cultural artifacts, and offered his thanks to TIKA for their contributions.
TIKA Deputy Chairman Mehmet Süreyya Er commented that TIKA executes projects and activities in all areas by eliminating obstacles.
The Sarajevo Wheelchair Basketball Club 3K team which was founded in 1996 in order to reintegrate disabled people through basketball currently has 12 active and over 20 non-active players. Sarajevo 3K team won championship in League of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1998, 2001 and 2004 among 9 teams, and Bosnia and Herzegovina Cup in 2012.
Equipment support for Organic Products Fair in Sarajevo
TIKA provided Equipment support for Organic Products Fair held in Sarajevo.
The opening of Organic Products Fair held in Sarajevo was attended by President of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Federal Organic Agricultural Producers Federation Sead Herceg, TIKA Deputy Chairman Mehmet Süreyya Er, Novi Travnik Mayor Refik Lendo, TIKA officials, Representatives from the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Minister of Federal Agriculture Water Affairs and Forestry Consultant Anto Petrić, Director of the Federal Agency Agropedoloji Esad Bukala, Federal Agriculture Organization Manager Omar Kurtovic and Organic agriculture producers.
150 organic producers that have received or soon to receive certificate for organic production and 250 people that collect herbs and forest fruits indirectly promoted their production in the stands installed within the scope of the project. Additionally training will be given in several cities to people who plan to work on organic production in the future. In this context, it is planned to support marketing network with similar organizations to be conducted around Bosnia and Herzegovina and contribute agricultural production and economy.
During his speech at the opening of Organic Products Fair, TIKA Deputy Chairman Er gave information on TIKA’s operations and duties and stated that especially agricultural projects constitute a significant share in TIKA’s projects. TIKA Deputy Chairman Er underlined the critical importance of this contribution for organic agriculture producers since it has reached many producers and is applicable in many parts of the country.
President of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Federal Organic Agricultural Producers Federation Herceg offered his thanks to TIKA for their contributions in agricultural production, enforcing producers and easier marketing of organic productions.
