TİKA Carries out its Activities through Long-term, Sustainable Development Models

TİKA President Serdar Çam said, “As the Republic of Turkey continue to fight terrorism in Northern Syria, it also hopes to work for the development of the area.”

TİKA President Dr. Serdar Çam said that after TİKA’s office in Damascus was closed in 2011, they tried to support the local people through different means in the recent years. Çam expressed that TİKA carries out its activities through long-term, sustainable development models and said, “As the Republic of Turkey continue to fight terrorism in Northern Syria, it also hopes to work for the development of the area.”

Çam expressed that they want to apply the experience they have gained in more than 100 countries they worked in and said: “Previously, we completed some projects such as a school project in the Jarabulus region. I believe that we can accomplish important things in this region with our governorate. In particular, we can meet the need for seed within the field of agricultural development in appropriate areas before the season starts. On the other hand, investments are being planned for many areas such as livestock, milk and dairy facilities, greenhouse farming, etc. We consider model projects that can be self-sufficient, permanent and that would encourage return to the region.

Turkey’s experience will be shared

Çam remarked that Turkey has significant experience on machinery-equipment and that in the northern regions of Syria, in locations, which were cleared from the terrorist organizations, they will focus on projects to share these experiences and to establish the necessary infrastructure. Çam asserted that this will allow Turkey to send a message to the world, “On one hand, we are working towards ensuring safety and peace in the region with the Operation Olive Branch; on the other hand, we are rehabilitating the region by restoring economic development, progress and peace in the secured areas. As TİKA, we will contribute as much as we can.”
