TİKA Supports University Students in Ethiopia

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) presented students succeeding in university entrance exams in Ethiopia with laptops and stationery equipment.

TİKA granted 29 students laptops and stationery equipment at the award ceremony organized for students who succeeded in the university entrance exams, which are annually organized under the auspices of Ethiopian Deputy Minister of Construction and Former State Minister Assefa Keshito Dasho, and also other students who passed the previous exams and still successfully maintain their education.

The award ceremony held on Meskel Holiday, one of the official holidays of Ethiopia, was attended by Ethiopian Deputy Minister of Construction Assefa Keshito Dasho, the President of Ethiopia between 2001 and 2013 Girma Wolde-Giorgis, TİKA Ethiopia Coordinator Mehmet Ali Yetiş, students, and their families.

Highlighting the fact that Ethiopia and Turkey have deep-rooted cultural bonds and the most important one is education, Yetiş talked as follows: "TİKA Addis Ababa office was personally opened by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as the first Africa office in 2005. This office also indicates the deep bonds between Turkey and Ethiopia. Our office has realized over 80 educational projects since its opening and more than 450 Ethiopians benefited from these experience exchanging programs among these projects. We hope that students will dream of the improvement of Ethiopia through the education while studying with these laptops."

Assefa Keshito Dasho thanked TİKA and Turkey for always standing by the Ethiopian people.
