TİKA Provides Wheelchair Support to Kyrgyzstan

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) donated 100 wheelchairs to children and adults in need, who suffer from physical disabilities, across Kyrgyzstan.

A ceremony was organized by TİKA at Kyrgyz Red Crescent for the handover of the wheelchairs that were provided as part of the “Unimpeded Life” campaign. The ceremony was attended by Vasiliki Fırat, the wife of Turkish Ambassador to Bishkek Cengiz Kamil Fırat, TİKA Bishkek Program Coordinator Ali Muslu, President of Kyrgyz Red Crescent Azamat Baialinov, Bishkek Deputy Mayor Asel Kulambaeva, representatives from related organizations, people with disabilities and their families.

Speaking during the ceremony, Ambassador Fırat said, “With TİKA’s social campaign ‘Unimpeded Life’ we are donating 100 wheelchairs to children and adults.” Fırat thanked TİKA for such meaningful projects that make life easier for people with disabilities and also thanked Kyrgyz Red Crescent for hosting the event. 

Bishkek Deputy Mayor Kulambaeva also offered her gratitude to TİKA, Kyrgyz Red Crescent and Turkish Embassy in Bishkek and said, “Our children with disabilities really needed these wheelchairs.”

TİKA Bishkek Program Coordinator Muslu remarked that they have started distributing the wheelchairs with Kyrgyz Red Crescent and 35 of them will go to people suffering from paraplegia, and 65 of them will go to people with walking disability. 

After the speeches, the wheelchairs were delivered to people in need.

The families of the beneficiaries thanked TİKA and Turkish people.
