The First Mawlid at the Valide Sultan Mosque Renovated by TİKA

The first mawlid was organized at the Valide Sultan Mosque in Sjenica, Serbia, which was renovated by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

A mawlid program was organized after the Friday Prayer at the mosque, which was inaugurated by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his visit to Serbia last week.

At the program organized at the mosque, which was built by Pertevniyal Sultan, mother of Sultan Abdülaziz, Turkish Ambassador to Serbia Tanju Bilgiç said that historical buildings are part of common culture and friendship.

Stating that the Valide Sultan Mosque is one of the most beautiful buildings in the region, Bilgiç said that the region of Sanjak and Bosnians build a bridge between Serbia and Turkey.

Bilgiç said that President Erdoğan inaugurated many other TİKA projects in addition to this mosque during his visit to Serbia and that Turkey will continue to support Sanjak and Serbia.

After wishing God’s mercy on the soldiers who were martyred in the Operation Peace Spring, Bilgiç conveyed President Erdoğan’s kindest regards to the people of Sanjak.

TİKA Belgrade Coordinator Çağla Gültekin Tosbat said that the historical Valide Sultan Mosque, which was renovated by Turkey through TİKA, was built 150 years ago. Sanjak’s Mufti Senad Halitovic emphasized that Muslims living in the region draw their strength from Turkey’s strength.

An inscription stating that the mosque was renovated under President Erdoğan’s administration was hung on the door of the Valide Sultan Mosque, which is the only Selâtin (Sultans) mosque in the region of Sanjak, where Bosnians make up the majority of the population.
