02 March 2020Emine Erdoğan Inaugurated a Rehabilitation Center in Senegal
Emine Erdoğan, the wife of President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, inaugurated the Ginddi Rehabilitation Center, which was modernized by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), in Senegal.
Joining President Erdoğan on his visit to Senegal, Emine Erdoğan was accompanied by Meryem Faye Sall, the wife of President of Senegal Macky Sall. During her visit to the center, Emine Erdoğan received information about TİKA’s activities in the country. Informed about the center, which will serve disadvantaged children, Emine Erdoğan examined the call center set up for children in need of protection with TİKA’s technical infrastructure support. Then, she visited the renovated dormitories and distributed gifts to the children staying there. Emine Erdoğan said that she hoped the center, which will serve approximately 2,500 disadvantaged children each year, will be beneficial to young Senegalese people. Hülya Çavuşoğlu, the wife of Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, and Şule Akar, the wife of Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar, also accompanied Emine Erdoğan during her visit. Later, Emine Erdoğan had a lunch with Meryem Faye Sall, the wife of the President of Senegal.
Children from neighboring countries such as Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, and Congo also come to the center, which is the only public institution that provides shelter and asylum for children who have been victims of sexual or physical abuse.
