05 March 2020Turkish Doctors Examined 300 People and Performed 35 Surgeries in Kyrgyzstan
Implementing the free treatment project supported by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), the health team of Yeryüzü Doktorları Association examined hundreds of patients and performed 35 surgeries in the field of ear, nose, and throat and general surgery.
Visiting Kyrgyzstan with TİKA’s support, a team of 9 volunteer doctors and nurses, who are members of Yeryüzü Doktorları Association, examined patients of different age groups and performed important surgical operations in cooperation with a private hospital and the Oncology Hospital in Osh, the second-largest city in Kyrgyzstan. In addition to examining a total of 300 patients, including 50 patients in the field of General Surgery and 250 patients in the field of Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), volunteer doctors performed a total of 35 surgeries, including 12 General surgeries and 23 ENT surgeries.
Prof. Harun Cansız, an ENT surgeon and a member of Yeryüzü Doktorları Association, also performed a “tympanoplasty,” eardrum repair, which could not be performed in the country before. Touching on the ENT surgery he performed, Cansız said, “We operated on a patient with a middle ear infection. Since the hospital did not have the device that we use to open the ear from behind, we became the first to perform this surgery here.”
As part of the health program, Turkish doctors trained local doctors at a seminar titled “New Approaches to Mammoplasty.”
After completing their program in Osh, the delegation of Yeryüzü Doktorları returned to Bishkek and visited Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Friendship Hospital, which was built by TİKA. Later, the Republic of Turkey’s Ambassador to Bishkek Mr. Cengiz Kamil Fırat welcomed the delegation. During the visit of the delegation to TİKA Bishkek Program Coordination Office, Program Coordinator Ali Muslu explained the healthcare projects implemented by TİKA.
