TİKA Launches an Experience Sharing Program for Veterinarians in Kosovo

The “Experience Sharing Online Training Program,” a video conference event organized by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) for Kosovar veterinarians, began.

In his speech at the opening ceremony of the program, which was organized in cooperation with the Veterinary Chamber of Kosovo, Dr. Mahmut Çevik, Head of the Balkans and Eastern Europe Department of TİKA, stated that they have implemented more than 300 projects in Kosovo so far. Stressing that they received expert support while implementing these projects, Çevik said that TİKA usually invests in areas in which assistance is needed in Kosovo.

Nehat Ramadani, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Development of Kosovo, expressed his great appreciation for TİKA’s commitment to providing assistance in agriculture and other fields in Kosovo. Noting that during his visit to Istanbul, he was astonished by the measures taken by Turkey against the pandemic, Ramadani said, “We wish to be able to closely observe all the successful actions of Turkish institutions on this matter in the near future.”

Turkey’s Ambassador to Pristina Çağrı Sakar stressed that the outbreak of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) proved the importance of food security once again. Sakar stated that he hopes the pandemic would end soon and the relations between the two countries would be improved through reciprocal visits.

Ali Eroğlu, President of the Central Council of the Turkish Veterinary Medical Association, stated that they appreciate TİKA for accelerating its efforts in agricultural diplomacy when food security is at the crossroads of a crisis and that they would always be there for TİKA to share their experience. More than 80 Kosovar veterinarians will be trained for 5 days in the training program, which began with the presentations of Dr. Engin Ünay and Dr. Hasan Hüseyin Şenyüz.
