As part of the Erenler Sofrası Ramadan Program, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) distributed food and hygiene supplies to 1,200 families in Mongolia.
The “Erenler Sofrası” program, which has been initiated by TİKA after the year 2021 was declared by the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey as the Year of Yunus Emre and Turkish Language, the Year of Haji Bektash Veli and the Year of Ahi Evran, has slightly relieved the burden of the low-income and disabled citizens in Mongolia.
As part of the Erenler Sofrası Ramadan Program, which has been initiated by TİKA in Mongolia, food and hygiene supplies were distributed to 1,200 all around the country.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Turkey to Ulaanbaatar Zafer Ateş, Ambassadress Ayla Ateş, Ulaanbaatar Program Coordinator Emrah Ustaömer, Vice Coordinator Sibel Güneği, and representatives from social relief organizations.
As part of the Erenler Sofrası Ramadan Program, 1200 food packages have been delivered to the families who live in the Zavkhan province and the Bayan-Ölgii province where the Muslim Kazakh population predominantly lives, the low income families who live in the Nalaikh and Songinokhairkhan municipalities of Ulaanbaatar, as well as the Cooperation Association, the Kırkyama Association for the Disabled, the Domestic Violence Victim Children's and Women's Shelter that operates under the Minii Yörtuns Association, the İtgelt Care Center for the Elderly and Disabled that operates under the Batgerelt İreedüi Association; which act with the purpose of teaching Turkish to the Kazakh and Mongol people living in Mongolia and preserving the beliefs, traditions, and culture of the Muslim people and handing them down to the next generations.
Having taken the floor during the distribution of food and hygiene supplies in Mongolia, the Cooperation Association President Jenisbek Habidolda said: "We are pleased that the people and state of Turkey has reached out a helping hand to us with TİKA's Erenler Sofrası Ramadan Program, especially during a period in which we're facing financial difficulties due to the pandemic and the quarantine. We'd like to thank everyone who contributed to this relief. These supplies will meet the needs of low income and disabled citizens for a long time.”
TİKA had also distributed packages consisting of food and hygiene supplies to 2,000 low-income families around Mongolia in February due to the Tsagaan Sar Festival, the most important holiday in Mongolia.
