10 May 2021Erenler Sofrası Set for Orphaned Students in Northern Syria
As part of the “Erenler Sofrası” Ramadan Program, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) reached out a hand of friendship and solidarity to 3,000 orphaned students in the Operation Euphrates Shield region in Northern Syria.
Food packages have been distributed to needy and orphaned students in Syria within the scope of the “Erenler Sofrası” Ramadan program, which has been carried out by TİKA inspired by the figures who are seen as the heart of Anatolia due to the year 2021 being declared as the Year of Yunus Emre, Ahi Evran and Haji Bektash Veli, the spiritual guides of Anatolia.
Within this context, in cooperation with the Directorates of National Education of Gaziantep and Kilis provinces, 3,000 orphaned students were handed out food packages in the A'zaz, Marea, Sawran, Aktarin, Al-Rai, Jarabulus, Al Bab and Qabasin regions where orphaned students predominantly live, going on with their education at certain schools and camps but facing difficulties in accessing basic foods. TİKA's food aid put a smile on the faces of orphaned students, especially during a time when the pandemic has made it even more important to show solidarity, friendship and brotherhood.
Since the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey declared 2021 as the Year of Yunus Emre and Turkish Language, the Year of Haji Bektash Veli and the Year of Ahi Evran, TİKA has been introducing the sharing culture of our country to everywhere around the world as part of the Ramadan programs carried out in 87 countries and 5 continents.
