TİKA Supports the 3rd International TURAZ Academy Forensic Sciences, Forensic Medicine, and Pathology Congress in Azerbaijan

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) supported the 3^rd International TURAZ Academy Forensic Sciences, Forensic Medicine, and Pathology Congress, held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

The Congress was held in Turkish from September 9 to 11, 2021 under the theme of “violence and media” in partnership with the TURAZ Science Association, Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), İnönü University, Amasya University, and Azerbaijan Medical University.

Ebubekir Şahin, President of RTÜK; Rıdvan Duran, General Director of the Press Bulletin Authority; Prof. Süleyman Elmacı, Rector of Amasya University; Assoc. Prof. Cahit Bağcı, Turkey’s Ambassador to Baku; Prof. Osman Celbiş, Chairperson of TURAZ Science Association; Elsever Agayev, Deputy Minister of Health of Azerbaijan; Prof. Geray Geraybeyli, Rector of Azerbaijan Medical University; Sabina Aliyeva, Ombudsman of Azerbaijan; and Melahat İbrahimkızı, MP of the New Azerbaijan Party, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony of the Congress, which was hosted by Azerbaijan Medical University.

At the Congress, which was participated by public officials, scientists, and specialists from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Russian Federation, and Serbia, the responsibilities of media organizations, which serve as a powerful tool to inform the public, in cases of domestic violence, violence against women and children, and abuse were discussed.

The three-day Congress also focused on general pathology topics; technical topics such as forensic pathology, toxicology, forensic anthropology, forensic psychiatry, and medicolegal autopsy; current topics in different branches of medicine; and medicolegal issues.
