23 June 2022TİKA Supports Orphans with Albinism in Guinea
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided supplies to the Orphanage for Children with Albinism, located in the suburbs of Conakry, the capital of Guinea.
The Agency provided the orphanage, which is home to 35 orphans with albinism, with bunk beds, beds, wardrobes, washing machines, plumbing supplies, and stationery items, as well as creams and medicines to protect orphans with albinism from the sun.
The delivery ceremony was attended by Volkan Türk Vural, the Republic of Türkiye’s Ambassador to Conakry, and his wife, Arlinda Vural; Hasan Serbest, Director of Maarif Foundation in Conakry; Prof. Selçuk Coşkun, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies at the Social Sciences University of Ankara; and Ahmet Özdemir, Representative of Türkiye Diyanet Foundation.
In his speech, Volkan Türk Vural, the Republic of Türkiye’s Ambassador to Conakry, said that he was happy with TİKA’s support, and that they would always be there for the people of Guinea, a sister and friendly nation.
Mehmet Özdemir, TİKA’s Coordinator in Conakry, noted that TİKA has implemented projects in the fields of education, health, infrastructure, and agriculture across the country, including inner regions, as well as social responsibility projects for orphanages and disadvantaged groups, and that their activities would continue.
Abdoulaye Traore, Representative of the National Confederation of Albinos of Guinea, thanked our Embassy and TİKA, stating that the assistance was of great importance and made the children residing in the orphanage very happy, and that the orphans would live in better conditions thanks to the assistance.
