12 September 2022TİKA Continues to Support Beekeeping in Tajikistan
A total of 74 families were provided with beehives and basic beekeeping (i.e., apiculture) equipment within the scope of the Beekeeping Development Program as implemented in Tajikistan and supported by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).
Within the scope of the Beekeeping Development Program as implemented by TİKA in cooperation with Tajikistan Ministry of Agriculture, a total of 48 families were provided with around 1,000 beehives and basic beekeeping equipment in Tajikistan during 2022. The equipment as provided to the benefit of families living in Baljuvon district in Khatlon Region and Nurobod district was delivered to Karimzoda Sadi, the Minister of Agriculture of Tajikistan.
74 families have been provided with beekeeping equipment in 2 years
48 families, who will receive the equipment within the scope of the program, will also be provided with basic beekeeping (i.e., apiculture) training for a period of one week. In 2021, the first year of the program, 26 families were provided with equipment support. With the support as provided in 2022, a total of 74 families have been provided with beekeeping equipment.
Today, single-layer beehive model is used throughout Tajikistan. These incentives provided aim at transitioning to a new system and a multi-layer beehive model to increase honey yield as well as improving the quality of honey production in Tajikistan.
